Efficiency
New Ball Homes are built to 2009 Energy Star guidelines, providing peace of mind and energy savings. Now included on its built-to-suit homes, as well as most Quick Move and Quick Start Homes, the Energy Star designation signifies that a home meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. According to the E.P.A., owners of Energy Star qualified home save an estimated $200 to $400 in annual energy costs, and enjoy more consistent temperatures between and across rooms, improved indoor air quality, and enhanced resale value on their new homes.
Energy Star qualified homes offer the advantage of an individualized energy analysis and a third party inspection and certification of its energy efficient measures. Each home is individually inspected and tested by a Certified Home Energy Rater for such features as tightness of construction and ducts, high efficiency heating and cooling equipment, effective insulation, and advanced windows. Properly sized, sealed, and insulated ducts can increase heating and cooling efficiency and provide a quieter and more comfortable home.
Energy Star qualified homes by Ball Homes are sealed and insulated to reduce holes and cracks in the home's "envelope," and undergo a rigorous Thermal Bypass Inspection by the independent Home Energy Rater to ensure that they are properly sealed and insulated to provide maximum efficiency. This provides even temperatures, increased comfort, and better indoor air quality. It also results in lower utility bills, as air leakage and improperly installed insulation can waste 20% or more of the energy used to heat and cool the home. With Energy Star qualified homes, 96 cents of every dollar spent on heating and cooling stays in the home.

The reduced energy use of an Energy Star home yields environmental benefits for everyone, including reduced air pollution generated by the production of energy at power plants. In 2009, Ball Homes was awarded the EPA's Leadership in Housing Award for the Energy Star-qualified new homes we built in 2008.
